T142

18 September - 06 November 2005

'T142' is an international groupshow with young Belgian and international artists. All - but one - are exhibiting for the first time at Deweer Art Gallery. The exhibition shows a variety of work: painting, drawings, sculptures, installations, video, and photography. It will contain new works by Emmanuelle Antille (CH), Louis De Cordier (B), Eva De Leener (B), Stefaan Dheedene (B), Charlotte Dumas (NL), Isabel Ginneberge (B), Matthieu Laurette (F), Valerie Mannaerts (B), Ivo Provoost & Simona Denicolai (B), Bart Stolle (B) and Andy Wauman (B). T142 is the 142nd show of Deweer Art Gallery, but it is not just the somethingth. It is indeed special in all ways. First of all, we have been intrigued by some of the artists for a long time without having had the chance to get to know them in person, or to get to know their work better. T142 is a good occasion for that. It serves as an experiment and a show at once. The show is also mainly the result of a kind of tracking, of fieldwork. In the near future a number of shows, in which the gallery will demonstrate its strong and specific engagement in the field of the young international visual arts, will follow. Furthermore, the breathtaking site Transfo Zwevegem has proved to be a source of inspiration, as it did for each exhibition the gallery has organised there. And last but not least, out of 11 artists shown here, 10 have never exhibited at the gallery. Some of them have even rarely been shown in our country. We have deliberately chosen to bring the work of young strongly upcoming artists together with work by equally young but better known artists. The common denominator is simply that each one of them fascinates us.
