Crumbling down, up and up we climb

15-12-2017 - 18-02-2018

Yarat Contemporary Art Space, Baku, Azerbaijan

Jan Fabre participates with The path from the earth to the stars is not paved (1987) in new group show ‘Crumbling down, up and up we climb’ at Yarat Contemporary Art Space in Baku, Azerbaijan. The exhibition explores attitudes towards cultural histories and monumentality.
Fabre’s monumental hand drawn canvas The path from the earth to the stars is not paved belongs to the series ‘The Hour Blue’. It symbolizes the mystical moment between night and day, when the animals of the night fall asleep and the animals of the day awaken. It emphasizes the metamorphosis and the continuous cycle of birth, life, death and rebirth.
Other participating artists are Reza Aramesh, Vajiko Chachkhiani, Goshka Macuga and Stephen G. Rhodes.
This exhibition is curated by Suad Garayeva-Maleki and Björn Geldhof.
